01 Sep Container Shipping – Fall in number of ships but not in shipping capacity
Research has shown that for the first time in the last two decades, there has been fewer container ships transporting goods, with demolitions of ships running at around 55 ships per quarter.
However despite the reduction in ships there is still about 6% growth in the shipping industry, this is due to the increase in average ship size which has accommodated the transport of a greater number of goods.
