Exports – where next?

Exports – where next?

The DHL/BCC Trade Confidence Index is based on a survey of over 1000 exporters and an analysis of export documentation. It is designed to measure the health of UK export. The Q3 report will be out soon but the Q2 index noted:

* Manufacturers reporting a big increase in exchange rate concerns

* Export orders rising for service firms but falling for manufacturers

* Profitability expectations deteriorating

The index reflected that exporters are operating in a difficult environment. While overall export activity seems to be relatively buoyant, other indicators of domestic performance and employment intentions had weakened (although still suggesting expansion).

Economists are preducting a return to growth for the UK in Quarter 3. Export led businesses will be key to any sustained and balanced recovery.

Supplychain21 continues to support UK exporters through competetive sourcing of road transport and sea freight, and a focus on providing service excellence.
