30 Jul Costs going up in China?
The Chinese Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Tax has issued some new rules regarding VAT for ocean transport services. As a result, the majority of carriers have confirmed that they will start to debit 6 % VAT on all charges payable in China. For this charge to be avoided, the ocean rate should be payable at destination.
It is unclear at the moment as to exactly how the new rules will be applied and until carriers receive clarification , existing invoicing arrangements are likely to remain unchanged.
